The Dean of NBC News and Moderator of Meet the Press formally endorsed the presidential campaign of John McCain this morning as he interviewed the Arizona Senator on the Sunday morning interview program this morning.
Brokaw has been signaling his intent all fall (see, for example: "Republican Sen. John McCain made a smart move when he took a campaign timeout and returned to Washington to take part in the bipartisan effort to deal with the nation's financial crisis, whether he participates in Friday's debate or not, broadcaster Tom Brokaw said this evening." http://www.commercialappeal.com/news/2008/sep/25/e26speechweb/ and "Brokaw has served as a point person between NBC and the McCain campaign; the guy who helped smooth over ruffled feathers" http://mediamatters.org/countyfair/200809300003) but this morning marked the first time he has publically declared himself as a paid member of the campaign staff. Even with the extra help McCain appeared cranky and disoriented at times on the program, prompting some speculation that McCain himself was unavailable for the interview and was being played by Darrell Hammond. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Like TV only smarter.
