For the first time in several years, I got sent to a statistics conference, and one of the speakers on the first panel (about cell phones' impact on RDD surveys) was from Nielsen.
So, afterwards I asked him a question P Gage asked quite awhile ago, soon after we learned that Nielsen was going to start including the TV viewing habits of college students in its surveys. So, how is the college sample drawn? Here's how: From the regular household sample. That is, if a regular Nielsen household contains a college student living in a dorm, that student is asked to become part of the panel. That's not at all how I thought the college sample was drawn, but that's it. Melissa P. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Like TV only smarter.
