The Weekend Remote Patrol for November 22-23, 2008 by Thomas Allen Heald, Esquire All times Eastern, for PBS programs, check local listings
SATURDAY 9 p.m. Watch the Jonas Brothers understudies in "OPERATION MOJO: A NAKED BROTHERS BAND" (Nickelodeon). James Brolin and Ian Somerhalder are the "LOST CITY RAIDERS" (Sci Fi) of Joan Van Ark. Seriously, they could have used the name Bay City Rollers and nobody would notice. Jacqueline Bisset stars as one of Louisa May Alcott's average-sized women in "AN OLD-FASHIONED THANKSGIVING" (Hallmark). "AMERICA'S MOST WANTED" (Fox) hunts pirates in the Caribbean. Next week: John Walsh trains the Beverly Hills Chihuahua to sniff out bombs. "TELEVISION & THE PRESIDENCY" (Fox News Channel) looks back at great moments in non-Muslim-terrorist-elitist-rock-stars-with-tied-to-organized-crime-who-want-to-spread-the-wealth history. 11:30 p.m. "SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE" (NBC) is a little bit country with Tim McGraw and a little bit hip hop (and roll) with Ludacris and T-Pain. Midnight "TALK SHOW WITH SPIKE FERESTEN" (Fox) counters with Trace Adkins. SUNDAY 8 p.m. "NATURE" (PBS) documents "THE WOLF THAT CHANGED AMERICA." Yes, he helped launch the Boy Scouts of America. No. Not Dick Wolf. Not paying your cabbie on "THE AMAZING RACE" (CBS)? "That is studly." Jimmy Kimmel hosts the "2008 PRETEND THEY MEAN SOMETHING MUSIC AWARDS" (ABC) with performances by the Fray, the Jonas Brothers, Annie Lennox, Ne-Yo, New Kids on the Block, Pink, the Pussycat Dolls, Rihanna, Taylor Swift, and Kanye West. Robert Carlyle is Jackspotting in "24: REDEMPTION" (Fox): "ESCAPE 2 AFRICA" featuring President Cherry Jones and the evil Jon Voigt and his nuclear pencils. 9 p.m. "TRUE BLOOD" (HBO) ends season one with Sookie needing to be saved. Sigh. TELE-GEBRA "THE UNSEEN ALISTAIR COOKE" (PBS) = "MASTERPIECE HOME MOVIES" 10 p.m. Bears are not allowed to watch "A COLBERT CHRISTMAS: THE GREATEST GIFT OF ALL!" (Comedy Central). "ENTOURAGE" (HBO) milks a joke of stalking Gus Van Sant as it goes on hiatus. 12:15 a.m. "THE DRINKY CROW SHOW" (Cartoon Network) proves that second chances exist. Ten years after bombing on "Saturday Night Live," Tony Millionaire's "Maakies" comic strip gets animated and/or inebriated again. === But the conversation doesn't end here, add your own suggestions or discuss mine on the "TV or Not TV" Google list.
