While Jonathan Ross sits out his 12-week BBC suspension for egging
Russell Brand on to call up and harass Andrew Sachs, the movie reruns
BBC1 aired in place of "Friday Night with Jonathan Ross" didn't do
well, so they brought out Friday for the remainder of his suspension
their standup show "Live at the Apollo" (that's London's Hammersmith
Apollo, so no tree-stump rubbing or Grim Reaper character in the
background). Happily for the One, "Apollo" took its time period
Friday night against BBC2's "NewsNight" (half of which on Friday
nights is devoted to a "Review" panel discussion show), a blooper show
and news on ITV ("News at Ten" doesn't air on Friday nights), Chris
Rock's most recent HBO special on Channel 4 and the "L&O" franchise on
Channel 5 (last half of a first-run "SVU" and first half of rerun
original)--but it was still a lower audience than what Ross was
pulling before his suspension:

If my calculations are correct, Ross will be back on the air in
February for "Friday Night" and his Saturday mid-morning BBC Radio 2
show--and the ratings will probably go through the roof for his
return.

In Saturday night's edition of the BBC1/ITV reality comp wars, "X
Factor" won impressively over "Strictly Come Dancing (With the
Stars)," thanks to guest appearances by Britney Spears *and* Miley
Cyrus (I assume that British tweens love "Hannah Montana" on UK Disney
Channel--is that show on terrestrial in the UK?):
