Two attempts to revive NBCU library properties, sure, but the cause of
each failure is very different.

I always felt like "Bionic Woman" had potential, but was really
hamstrung by the seemingly limited range (both in terms of acting and
physicality) of Michelle Ryan. Sure, the series was slow to get where
it needed to go (Jamie out in the field, solving mysteries and
generally going 'na-na-na-na-na-na-naaaaaaaa'), but there was
potential there - particularly in Katie Sackhoff's 'evil bionic woman'
character, who probably should have been more prominent.

The new "Knight Rider" had a lot more working against it. For one,
ditching the original concept (Michael "killed" in line of duty, saved
by FLAG, goes out in KITT to solve mysteries and get laid,
occasionally checking in at the mansion or the tractor-trailer) was a
HUGE mistake. The original series was about three people - Michael,
Devon, and Bonnie - and a car. The new series had no fewer than 7
regulars in the cast, the majority of whom were totally unnecessary to
the central story. That, plus the KITT-cave, and the whole notion of
Michael actually being a government agent rather than a 'lone
crusader' pretty much killed the show. (Oh, and one more thing -
whoever gave Val Kilmer the direction to voice KITT devoid of any
emotion was a moron. The whole thing that made the William Daniels
version of KITT great was that he DID have an expressive voice, and
clearly cared about Micheal in a way a artificial intelligence
shouldn't have been able to. Kilmer's KITT was just a wet blanket -
or an attempt to clone Commander Data.)
