I wasn't happy with how Doakes was handled in the series (or in the books
for that matter) but once he knew about Dexter's after work activities, you
knew he was the red-shirted member of the crew.

There were some things I liked - Dexter imagining Deborah's reaction to his
dark passenger was probably my favorite part.  I also liked Dexter looking
at the slides box on Keith Carradine's desk and not being allowed to react.
 I found LaGuerta's reaction to what happened to Doakes broadened her
character to me.

I didn't like the British woman.  Again, I'm as big a fan of the books as I
am the series, but Rita and the kids provide Dexter with that air of being
normal which is key to making his split life work.  Dexter dating a woman
who screamed "flake" from the minute you saw her just didn't feel right to
me.  He wouldn't be that reckless.

I'm also not thrilled with the deconstruction of Dexter's image of Harry.
