NBCPR BURBANK, Calif. - January 7, 2009 – A peeved Jay Leno eventually had enough of his monologue being interrupted by "Tonight Show" announcer John Melendez and band leader Kevin Eubanks vehemently bickering over who was going to win this weekends New York Giants and Philadelphia Eagles NFL playoff matchup --- so Leno concocted a bet between the two opposing fans.
"Let me explain what happened," Leno said during Wednesday's monologue. "We has a bit of an outburst the last couple of nights. John's a Giants fan; Kev's an Eagles fan. To keep them from arguing in the monologue -- they kept interrupting me -- if the Giants win, Kev has to shave his moustache. If the Eagles win John has to shave his head." Unfortunately, the bet only heightened the bragging rights and the two continued to argue through appearances with guests Anne Hathaway and the Discovery Channel's Brady Barr; by the time comedian Jeff Dunham took the stage Melendez and Eubanks had quieted down. That is, for now. To view video of Melendez and Eubanks showing their team pride visit NBC.com. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ Like TV only smarter.
