Yes, Kara was right about Joanna Pacitti being formerly signed to A&M
Records, where she recorded soundtrack songs that didn't go anywhere
(although one is covered by Britney Spears on her new album--no, not
"If U Seek Amy")--she also played "Annie" on Broadway (and when she
got fired from the show and her mother sued, she became fodder for a
"20/20" segment and an "SNL" sketch), appeared in an MTV doc about
aspiring singers and a doc about "Annie" alums for Showtime and did
one unsuccessful album for Geffen in 2006:

Once again, the rules only state that an "Idol" contestant cannot be
under contract to any kind of record company at the time of their
audition to be eligible--but that won't stop the complaining.
