Ed, and anyone else, I concur that this week's episode served its
purpose. It is essentially a new pilot for the series, which
theoretically harkens back to what the original series was. The big
secret about Mike's past doesn't make any sense, though, since Mike
would have been two or three years old when KARR was created. But
since nothing about the KARR storyline made sense, I suppose I have to
let it slide.

It was nice to see KITT not transform into a truck (or attack mode or
super pursuit mode or whatever they're calling it now), instead using
all the classic Knight Rider moves (turbo boost, ski mode, and even
crashing through a garage door that was not... repeat not... made of
tin foil). It was also nice to see Mike NOT use lethal force. When he
shot and killed a guy two weeks ago and Russo, a.k.a. the skirt, told
him that was hot, it was not in keeping with the spirit of what is, at
its core, a children's show.

As an aside, who provided the voice on KARR in the original series and
in this week's episode, and were they the same person? They both sound
like the guy who voices Optimus Prime.
