Jonathan Ross' BBC suspension for his accomplice role in Russell Brand's on-air prank phone calls to Andrew "Manuel" Sachs is over and his "Friday Night" talk show returned to its usual post-10 p.m. news time slot on BBC1 Friday night, with Tom Cruise and Stephen Fry on the couch--it took its time period, beating the finale of "Celeb Big Brother" on Channel 4 and actually got better numbers than it was getting before it took its unplanned vacation in October after Ross' suspension:

Currently handling Brand's former Saturday night slot is former rocker Suzi "Leather Tuscadero" Quattro, who seems to be playing music and not making prank phone calls. And as for "Celeb BB," I have the feeling that this summer's civilian edition better perform or it may be the end of the franchise in the UK. Last night, following what has become traditional for many U.S. series in the UK, the penultimate season of "Lost" made its UK premiere (only five days after its U.S. premiere) on digital channel Sky One and was "multichannel"'s top-rated non-sports show of the day, beaten only by an FA Cup match on Setanta Sports and just edging the premiere of BBC3's "Being Human," a new dramedy from a "Doctor Who" and "Torchwood" writer (not RTD or Steven Moffat): http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2009/jan/26/tv-ratings-lost As in the U.S., the audience was down from last year's fourth season premiere. Does C4 still have the terrestrial rights to the series in the UK? --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ TV or Not TV .... Smart (TV) People on Ice!
