The Viacom/MGM/Lionsgate-owned would-be Showtime killer Epix is scheduled to launch in October with "Iron Man" and Oscar nominee "Benjamin Button" in its arsenal, but has yet to sign up any major cable systems (a web site will launch in May for streaming programming):
http://www.nytimes.com/2009/01/28/business/media/28cable.html?_r=1&ref=television Since Comcast owns a piece of MGM, it would be assumed that the nation's number one MSO will be picking up Epix--with Showtime losing its three big bread-and-butter suppliers, so far the only studio they've signed so far to replace the ones they're losing is indie Summit, the people behind "Twilight" and a bunch of stiffos. Also, Epix will not have access to DreamWorks' animated hits (or Oscar nominee "Revolutionary Road"), since that studio still has an exclusive deal with HBO made before their deal with Viacom (and DreamWorks is leaving Viacom for NBC Universal this year). --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ TV or Not TV ....
