Larry Pressler (R-SD) and Newt Gingrich tried to have it reduced to zero after Armistead Maupin's sddictive 70s gay (and trans) tinged soap opera "Tales of the City" aired on PBS (mostly in late night) and became the channel's highest rated miniseries ever. PBS which didn't really kick in a lotta money freaked when Channel 4 asked for more of a stake in the budget for More Tales of the City and both "More" and "Further Tales..." wound up as co-productions on Showtime. Among the players ... Thomas Gibson, Billy Campbell, Chloe Webb, Billy Campbell, Olympia Dukakis, Mary Kay Place, McLean Stevenson, and one of her first major roles Laura Linney. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ TV or Not TV ....
