You did not say that he just "liked money". You said that "I believe
Murdoch...align[s] himself with whomever can increase his profit
margin." You also said that "Everything I
know about the man...points to a man ... driven entirely by money."

"I like money" is not an ideology. "Every thing I do is based on its
ability to increase my wealth" is an ideology - particularly if it
includes the corollary that "everything you do should also be based on
increasing your wealth". That is the ideology underlying  free-market
capitalism. To the extent you are right in your conclusions about
Murdoch, he is an economic conservative in the same way that Michael
Corelone was an economic conservative (although I think it was Don
Barzini who said "after all, we are not communists").
