They could argue that Latifah's mike was picking up the applause.
Despite the crack the other day, I'm assuming that laugh track guy
Bobby Douglass is always told never to hit the applause loop during
the necrology.
As for the direction, blame them hiring a sports guy, ABC ace Roger
Goodman (does he work for ESPN these days?).
