I liked it more than I didn't. McShane's still doing Swearingen, but that's not
automatically a bad thing.

Personal annoyance: Who puts a grand piano lid up on the stick but leaves the
front flap down? Just ridiculous.

Did anyone else watch the new NBC/Ian McShane series last night? It
was certainly not as advertised. The promos I caught for the show
included the tagline "What if America had a king?" Yet the series has
nothing to do with America at all. It wasn't until DAVID Shepherd
defeated the tanks, which were called GOLIATHs, that I figured out
what the series was really about (a little on the nose, if you ask
me). That makes it more like a Columbo episode, in that I know how it
will end, so the drama comes in the journey... the characters and
events that drive the story. It also means the narrative has a preset
story arc with a clear beginning, middle, and end, which I enjoy.

I would say that I plan to set a season pass for the series in my DVR,
but my DVR is currently sitting under the front seat of my car,
waiting to be returned to Time Warner after work today. I can say I
plan to watch the series on Hulu.
