As part of the "everything old is new again" trend in television,
"Yes, Minister," the 80s BBC sitcom about conniving pols that aired
here on some PBS stations and A&E when it actually was A&E, is being
remade in the Netherlands with the key role of the "brains" of the
group (played by Nigel Hawthorne in the original) this time a woman--
the Guardian's Julia Raeside can't figure out why, other than that the
Dutch can't come up with their own political sitcoms:

The post also mentions that along with the remake of "The Prisoner" on
ITV (and AMC here), which a commenter finds repulsive, the more cult
item "The Fall and Rise of Reginald Perrin" is also being remade by
ITV (even though it was a BBC show originally).  "Perrin" is one of
those shows that few people saw, but those who did really liked
(including me).  And of course the American remake "Reggie" got it all
wrong.
