First of all, I think that my DVR listing showed "Idol" running to
9:02 p.m. (well, 8:02 p.m. in Chicago). I stopped the DVR on my own
right at the Fremantle logo (and I already set the DVR for 3 minutes
over on "Idol"). I'm guessing that Fox didn't compensate on the
schedules for "Fringe" going over, because thanks to that whole
"limited interruptions" policy on that show, there's very little they
can pull to get on time for the news. IIRC, on "Fringe" and
"Dollhouse" the only promos are in the last break and are the only
network content in the break (the rest of the break is local time).
For the only breaks, it's just that "back in exactly 60/90 seconds"
bumper and that much commercial time, and then immediately back to the
show. Even if you start a minute or two late, it's very likely that
you're going to go over--however, "Dollhouse" is shown as starting at
9:01 p.m. (8:01 p.m. CT) almost every week and WFLD in Chicago runs
local spots coming out of the show instead of starting the news
immediately, which means that it must end at around 9:58 p.m. ET, so
who knows?
