Damn -- this is shocking news. Any word as to cause of death? Tom and I collaborated some in the late '90s with a daily "This Dave in History" for which the boys at the Late Show web site had asked. One day my dad was in town visiting, and out of the blue Tom called, for reasons I don't remember; maybe to just say hello. We had never talked before (or since), and when we did that day, it unfortunately came at an inopportune time. I finally saw a photo of him, and he didn't seem to be in the best of shape.
