. . .that affiliate would be WZDC, the Telemundo affiliate for Washington
DC. Given the scandal that WHDH caused in Boston when they announced that
they wouldn't air Leno, followed by NBC smacking them back into line, I was
curious about WZDC.

Now WZDC, owned by ZGS Broadcast Holdings, doesn't preempt anything on
primetime. Also, I believe Telemundo sends out 24 hours worth of
programming, but gives stations the option of substituting certain
programming with local fare. (For example, an affiliate with a local news
division can air news at 6pm and 11pm, while those without one can just air
whatever comes off the network feed.) Anyway, WZDC regularly airs a
half-hour infomercial weeknights at midnight. Now the problem is that
national Telemundo is airing an hour-long dramatic anthology "Decisiones" at
the time -- running from 11:35pm to 12:35am. That's right -- almost halfway
through this show is interrupted for an infomercial, and then at the
conclusion to the infomercial, viewers are returned to "Decisiones", in
progress and in conclusion.

As far as I can tell, this has been occurring for at least two years. From
this, one can draw one of several conclusions. Either very few
Spanish-speaking people watch Telemundo here after midnight (especially not
anyone who works for Telemundo in any capacity), or they do not know how to
contact WZDC, Telemundo or higher up at NBC-Uni, or Telemundo doesn't care
at all about anything airing after midnight. (And of course, nobody
operating WZDC cares either.)
