Both shows were nominated for Program of the Year (with "BSG," "Lost"
and "Mad Men") and the Heritage Award (with "ER," "MASH" and "Star
Trek TOS")--"The Shield" was also nominated in the drama category and
Individual Achievement in Drama (Walton Goggins, not Chiklis):

Winners announced at summer press tour--and the crabass TV news
aggregator who always makes shrimp cocktail jokes when talking about
press tour complains that "The Rachel Maddow Show" is nominated for
News/Information (with "60 Minutes," HBO's "Alzheimer's Project,"
"Frontline" and the "We Shall Remain" mini within "American
Experience" on Native Americans). Hey--they could've nominated
Stewart or Colbert again.

And in case you're wondering, the argument for "The Shield" as
Heritage is the fact that it influenced a new trend in quality drama
on basic cable (or original drama series on basic cable in general).
