Part of my job is to make the opens for our stations' newscasts, which incorporate a legal ID. When I was rebuilding the animation on June 3rd, I asked my boss exactly what the new call signs would be for us after the 12th. After some discussion as to whether we'd be -DT or go back to -TV, he put in a call to the FCC. He got a phone call later that night saying they were checking and would get back to us; about an hour later, he had received via e-mail a public notice dated June 3 outlining the procedures for call letters post-transition. The overwhelming impression we were left with was that no one had really thought about call letters and legal ID's until we called...! The public notice, if you're interested, basically says stations go back to their analog call letters by default, and can opt to switch to -DT--the whole thing is available here: http://tinyurl.com/fcccallsigns -- -- Ben Scripps [email protected] --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ TV or Not TV ....
