A fair number of them are films made by other companies on the cheap in some foreign land to cash in on tax deals then the US cable rights are acquired on the cheap by Sci-Fi and the airings act as what amounts to an ad for the otherwise direct-to-DVD release. So even if almost nobody was watching, they're darned profitable.
