American car companies would rather have consumers associate their brands with their classic cars. Ford would, by a long shot, prefer that Jay bring a '68 Mustang out on the stage rather than a 2010 Focus. And they would be happy if Jay could respark (or at least continue) the romance of American and cars. Jay's classic cars can bring about those feelings more than new cars can. And audiences love opulence during economic downturns. Look at all the tuxedo and gown '30s movies or the early seasons of Dallas and Dynasty during the early '80s recession.
