Flipping the WJFK station to sports in the middle of the baseball season makes
about as much sense as most of CBS Radio's moves. The Nationals are the
doormat of the league, not carried on the station, and the other sports aren't
in season. I wouldn't be surprised at a ratings dip through the summer, with a
bump only if they manage to wrest Redskins broadcasts from the team owner's
radio stations.

CBS is flipping two established formats in Boston and Washington to
sports talk--rocker WBCN, which history goes back to the "free form"
late 60s, becomes the new home of hot AC "Mix" WBMX on Aug. 13, while
WBMX's 98.5 frequency becomes WBZ-FM or "The Sports Hub" (using, of
course, CBS' heritage AM and TV calls)--in DC, WJFK, home in happier
days of Howard Stern, the Greaseman and Don and Mike (and one of the
last stations from the "Free FM" fiasco to still be talk) becomes "The
Fan" Monday:
