This depresses me more than anything I've read today. Here is a link to the ninth inning of Sandy Koufax's perfect game from 1965. Scully said on the old Bob Costas radio show that he traditionally would mention the date of the broadcast when a pitcher took a no-hitter to the ninth. Since he knew he had already called a Koufax no-hitter, he decided to focus on the clock.
This is the reason why when a broadcaster talks about not mentioning the words "no hitter" or "perfect game" on a broadcast, I feel obligated to tell them they're morons. http://www.baseball-fever.com/showthread.php?t=31154 ---------- Forwarded message ---------- From: Mark J. <[email protected]> Date: Wed, Jul 29, 2009 at 4:51 PM Subject: [TV orNotTV] Vin Scully for One More Season at Chavez Ravine To: TVorNotTV <[email protected]> The Greatest Baseball Broadcaster Ever tells the LA Times he will retire at the end of next season, health willing: http://www.latimes.com/sports/la-sp-plaschke29-2009jul29,0,1417756,full.column --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ TV or Not TV ....
