Watkins strikes me as a loss. She did some solid character work last season, especially her Hoda Kotb opposite Kristin Wiig's Kathy Lee Gifford in the "Today" sketches. Wilson? Meh. If she was in 30 more sketches that Watkins, she had enough airtime to make an impact - and didn't. Plus, Wilson co-wrote the horrible "Bride Wars" script which deserved some kind of show-biz penalty. A year-long suspension maybe.
Meanwhile, the new gals are easy on the eyes. Time will tell if they can hold the screen and bring the funny. But, affirmative action aside, where's another African-American cast member? Like him or not (and I'm usually on the fence), Kenan ain't nowhere near enough on a topical show like SNL during an Obama Administration.
