Turns out, there are - plenty. I counted 19 10:00 comedy shows in a 14 year period from 1964 through 1977. I got tired of looking after 1977, and it does seem that they got less frequent as the years rolled on, so the Leno show may be the first 10:00 pm network comedy program in a long time, but there have been many before it. I would be interested if anyone can list 10:00 pm comedy shows after 1979. Inspired by Bob, I looked up TV listings (http://www.tvhistory.tv/index.html). I started arbitrarily in 1964, and could not find any after 1977. I was originally thinking of Dean Martin and Carol Burnette as personalities that had 10:00 programs consisting substantially of comedy, but I found many others as well. Here are the comedy and or variety shows that I noted programed for 10:00 pm (I may have missed some, if I did not recognize the name or was unable to make a reasonable guess, I skipped it). Many of these shows were on for many years, I just list the first year I found it: 1964: Candid Camera & What's My line (CBS) Danny Kaye (CBS) Jimmy Dean Show (CBS) [Is this the sausage guy? I am assuming it was a variety show of some kind] Jack Paar Program (NBC) 1965: Wackiest Ship in the Army (NBC) [Wow - wilkipedia calls this a sitcom, but it was 60 minutes) Steve Lawrence Show (CBS) Dean Martin Show (NBC) 1967: Carol Burnett (CBS) 1968: Phylis Diller Show (NBC) Jonathan Winters Show (CBS) 1969: Love American Style (ABC) Jimmy Durante presents the Lennon Sisters Hour (ABC) [Wow - this is the kind of think my grandparents must have watched, but I don't remember it. I assume there was "comedy" in it] 1970: Tim Conway Comedy Hour (CBS) This is Tom Jones (ABC) 1971: My Three Sons/Arnie (CBS) [Aside from the Wackiest Ship, these were the only standard sit coms I found at 10:00 during these years] 1972: New Bill Cosby Show (CBS) [I loved this show, if it is the one I am thinking of with Foster Brooks and the mighty Lola Falana] Julie Andrews Hour (ABC) 1973: NBC Follies (NBC) 1976: Van Dyke and Company --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ TV or Not TV ....
