Jay is doing the show his way. He's doing stuff he feels safe with.
The assumption that led to his ratings success on the Tonight Show is
that a large part of the audience also likes the stuff he feels safe
with. The thing that has frustrated critics and Dave fans is that Jay
has no vision for his show and he's happy to do whatever the network
wants.

Right now all NBC wants is low cost programming 5 nights a week. Jay
will provide it and keep the show the same.
