1 hour is too long. They should have done this in one half hour and the 
Pyramid update (maybe drop the prize to $250K) in the 2nd half hour.

Really? I thought he was OK but really wooden. He seemed to be on 
autopilot and sticking too much to the patter.

The reason you gave is exactly right. The production doesn't have to 
shell out for the top two prizes ($30K+) at the end. It's a good way to 
keep their budget in check.

Unfortunately instead of looking like Big Network TV, it smacks of cable tv.

I will give them kudos, though, for not loading up the premiere with big 
wins. No one won a car (only one was offered,a Chevy Cobalt) and no one 
won the big deal of the day ($21K trip to China).
