A bipartisan blue ribbon panel put together by the Knight Foundation
criticizes public broadcasters for being too beholden to the NPR/PBS
feeds and not devoted to being "more local, more inclusive and more
interactive" in their communities:

Of course, the problem is that local news and public affairs costs
money, particularly if public radio stations want to do it with slick
NPR-style production--and most of the lefties who complain of "NPR
monoculture" seem more interested in local classical/jazz/folk DJs or
broadcasts of Noam Chomsky speeches than they are investigative
reporting.
