Yeah, lighting is an energy killer. And CBS TV City is a festering
hunk of crap operating more or less the same as it did 50 years ago.
Then again, it is tough to come up with a Hollywood studio that isn't
woefully outdated and horribly wired. And yesterday's high winds were
an anomaly that all but guaranteed problems throughout Los Angeles.
Leno and Conan both operate out of newer (by comparison) facilities
with redundant power systems (an electrician at NBC told me they get
power from two different main lines, though I don't know if that is
true).
