They have to do something and this is a good start. It does not help
the news to keep the popular bits to the end, if it means Leno never
has enough viewers worth trying to keep to begin with.

I am most interested in the information there that Kathy Griffin was
the guest on Monday night - that, combined with the attractive MNF,
may have helped drive away straight men in the demo, and explain his
particularly poor performance.
