This doesn't directly apply to email forums, but it's the first example I
can come up with:  most, if not all, print publications have the ability
to put a little star into regular typography.  So why, when writing
articles about a certain department store chain, do they use "Macy's"
instead of "macy(star)s" (or even "macy*s")?  Think about it.
