I recall that in the first 2 seasons those lines were shown, they involved TWO trucks for live video processing, and all the cameras had to be outfitted with encoders to read the angle-of-the-camera-dangle. My simple university graphics course in the late 1980s gave me an appreciation of the computational power required for this at 30 frames per second (or 29.97 in NTSC average).
all that said, it seems weird that they didn't have it live for your games.
