TVNewser is reporting a leaked memo from senior Fox News Managers to the effect that they are tired of all of the on air mistakes, and so have decided to get serious about that silly fact checking that has gotten Sarah Palin so irritable lately. "It is more important to get it right, than it is to get it on." (that's what she said).
Actually, while Fox News appears to have been the leader in not caring about the accuracy of its news, it has certainly not been alone, and assuming this is a real memo and not just some kind of intentional leak to spin perception, I give them some credit. News organizations need to start firing people, and transparently, when they make these kinds of mistakes. I thought Dan Rather got a bit of a raw deal at CBS, but I also wished that CBS had simply said something like "we care so much about our reputation and credibility that nobody's job at CBS News is safe in the face of gross mis-reporting of facts, not even the top dog". http://www.mediabistro.com/tvnewser/fnc/fox_news_memo_addresses_series_of_mistakes_144015.asp?c=rss -- TV or Not TV ....
