Not necessarily. The song or songs have to be cleared with the copyright holder of the work. There are many standards that are still in copyright--in fact, the big music publishers are very cognizant of renewing their copyrights under the old laws. Then, if a commercial recording of the song was used on the program, which was probably unlikely since it was probably by the house orchestra, the recording has to be cleared with the record company that owns the master. I thought NBCU owned the rights to "The Jack Benny Program" from acquiring the Universal library (and from Benny being represented by MCA when they were still just a talent agency, which they had to give up when they bought Universal)--or is it just for the filmed episodes?
