That line of Dave's last week: "there he is, there's the guy I know" about
Leno was classic, and very illuminating. I wonder, though, if the popeater
is right that Dave will continue this kind of intense personal referencing
of Leno when he returns to late night (other than a few the first couple of
days). I think Dave was comfortable getting into this precisely because Leno
could be seen engaging in familiar dynamics with someone else - I will be
surprised if Dave really wants to continue it into a direct Dave vs Leno
thing (though I'm sure he will continue with the periodic jokes about his
Mom preferring to watch Leno).

I wonder if Donz or anyone else can confirm this report from the article:
"So, in 1992, with no mention of Carson on his first show, Leno became the
host of 'The Tonight Show.' Letterman and Leno would never speak again."

I was under the impression the two have had a couple of interactions since
Dave went to CBS (when one of Leno's parent's died, sometime after the 9-11
attacks, when Dave's son was born and or his heart surgery?). But I either
could be making that up, or just remembering unsubstantiated rumors.
