I just finished watching the miniseries "Category 7," the sequel to
the miniseries "Category 6." I purchased "Category 7" for $4.99
("Category 6" did not feature Shannen Doherty and was, thus, never in
consideration). I found it in the frozen food section of my local
grocery store, which tells you everything you need to know about its
quality. For those who have not watched it, which I assume is everyone, it is exactly as cheesy as you imagine it to be. I won't bother with any sort of formal spoiler alert, since the miniseries aired five years ago, but there is a particularly disturbing moment towards the end where Shannen makes out with -- wait for it -- Randy Quaid. Yes --- Cousin Eddie. And while you may be cursing my name for planting that visual in your head, keep in mind that I actually saw it. The DVD cover art is misleading, since it gives Shannen and Randy top billing alongside Gina Gershon, but Shannen and Randy are merely bit players who share a few minor scenes. The description of the series on the back of the DVD also plays up Shannen Doherty's role, to such an extreme that it neglects to mention the two main male characters (who actually drive the story) at all. For Shannen fans, she wears a series of tank tops in most of her scenes and launches rockets which look kind of phallic. Otherwise, it is a disaster flick like any other. Monuments topple, cities crumble, and Robert Wagner phones in his role. -- Kevin M. (RPCV) -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
