For those who have not been following the concerns about the safety of the
Luge track in the run up to the games, the above is a link to one of many
commentaries on it. These are not ex post facto, monday morning quarterback
complaints - this has been a real controversy for a while now, and it raises
real concerns about the the relative importance of athlete's safety vs
attention and ratings grabbing speed. An argument can be made that they
designed this track specifically so there would be more accidents
(obviously, not intended to be fatal) much like NASCAR is trying to do this
year.
