That Karl's fine with it isn't terribly relevant to my inability to enjoy it.

In much the same way that I can appreciate why The Office (British or U.S.
versions) can be funny without me liking it (don't care for the awkward
comedy), I get why people appreciate the podcasts and their animated cousins.
Karl comes off as an idiot (not without cause) and people enjoy seeing others
get the piss taken out of them. I'm just not going to check out another
episode.

David, If you haven't heard Karl Pilkington before, it is tough to
explain him, or to justify Ricky's often hostile reaction towards him.
I liken it to a sort of sibling rivalry thing, and the two genuinely
are friends. If anything, the animated Karl seems very innocent and
childlike, whereas the actual reaction, as evidenced in the two
"Pointless Conversation" clips (also on both iTunes and YouTube), show
that he can hold his own. And, in the podcasts, he does snap back at
Ricky a few times... which I hope gets animated.

In the end, the purpose of the podcasts (and subsequent audiobook
series, the last of which will be released on Tuesday) was to provide
Karl a paycheck. Not only did it do that, but it also resulted in Karl
getting a book deal (called "Karlology" in the US and "The World of
Karl Pilkington" in the UK). So I think he's OK with the teasing.
