This sounds like a sales gimmick to me...similar to adding the letters HD to the word antenna so you have to pay an extra 20 bucks. As anyone who took a high school physics class may recall, every color of the spectrum can be produced by the RGB frequencies, assuming they are true. So I don't buy that this technology adds more gamut, or "millions more colors" as this article claims. To me this solves the maximum power consumption rules soon to be adopted by California, but doing so by lowering the quality/amount of light needed to produce the same image as a traditional display...robbing Peter to pay Paul...then adding 15% to the cost of the set just to say you are an energy conservationist.
