Yes but...this should not matter. The New York Times would make more money if they published nothing but horoscopes and photos of naked women, but that is not an excuse for them to do so. Unlike Disney Corp, ABC News should be in the business of reporting the news, not the business of making money. I am not saying ratings or circulation should be irrelevant to content, but maximizing profit can not be the driving consideration for a real news operation. They should not be giving us the news we want, but the news we need. And, yes, they do get to decide what the news is that we need - they are professional journalists. I want to see an interview with Tiger's bimbo #12 and learn about her latest plastic surgery, but instead I am going to get a 12 minute piece on how the Afghan war is going, or an update on relations between India and Pakistan, because that is what the people who monitor world events judge is the important news of the day. -- TV or Not TV ....
