>From the article: "That's because "Trauma" tainted "L&O," which managed a third-place 1.5/4 at 10 p.m. -- down 25 percent from last week, when NBC aired a double dose of the drama from 9-11 p.m. Worse, "L&O" was actually off 6 percent from what "The Jay Leno Show" had been averaging at 10 p.m. Mondays." The claim that L&O was off 6% from the JLS average is true - but only when the first three, highly atypical weeks of the JLS are included in the average. Leno averaged a 1.6 demo rating on Monday if you include every Monday show, but only 1.5 if you begin the calculation with week 4.His last 4 Monday nights he did: 1.3, 1.2, 1.1, & 1.2. So, while technically correct, it is misleading if it makes anyone think that, had Leno still been on at 10:00 this Monday, he would have done better (or even the same) as L&O did. He probably would have had a 1.2, which is about 15% lower than what L&O did this Monday. I don't see any obvious line-up advantage for Dave on Monday night (he had Ripa, Leno had Simon Cowell). I agree it will be hard for Leno to blame bad 10:00 lead-ins for a while with a straight face. NBC did 7 percentage points better relative to CBS on Tuesday compared to Monday at the 10:00 hour, Leno beat Dave on Tuesday, lost to him on Monday. If the Leno-Dave match-up remains this close (and I am really surprised it is this close, this soon after Leno's return) then the 10:00 lead-in may be enough of a factor to make the difference. -- TV or Not TV ....
