Internet modern rock radio station woxy.com, the first terrestrial radio station to move its format solely to the Internet in 2004 (and made famous by Raymond's frequent parroting of their "97X--BAM!--The Future of Rock and Roll" slogan in "Rain Man") abruptly stopped streaming today as the station's current owners, Future Sounds, pleaded lack of funding:
http://www.rbr.com/radio/22676.html The station, which started in Oxford, OH near Cincinnati in 1983 and moved last year to Austin, has been up and down since it ended terrestrial broadcasting, but program director Matt Shiv doesn't expect to be bailed out this time. In Cincy, NPR station WVXU was airing woxy.com on its HD-2 signal--it acted fast and picked up WXPN Philadelphia and NPR's similar (if somewhat softer) XPoNential Music format effective Monday for that frequency. -- TV or Not TV ....
