He was telling me (neither of us of course aware that Culp would so soon be in the news) that he had a vivid memory of a documentary by Bill Cosby on television when he was in maybe high school - a very non funny piece about racism and such, and how effective and impactful it was on his southern, conservative family and school because they basically had welcomed Cosby into their living rooms for several years (for many, as close as any black man had ever gotten to being in their living room). -- TV or Not TV ....
