Last night, Simon Cowell was raking poor Didi over the coals on "Idol" by saying that her rendition of "What Becomes of the Broken Hearted" was reminiscent "of those awful singers on those dancing shows" (referring, of course, to "Dancing With the Stars," which shoots across the hall from "Idol" at TV City, gives the couples edited versions of the original record as their routine music without any input on their part and forces Harold Wheeler and his musicians and singers to play and sing exactly like the record). At which point the executive producer of "Randy Jackson Presents America's Next Dance Crew" stood up at the other end of the table and demanded to know "Which dancing show?" To which Bruce Gowers responded by calling for the "end of comments" music cue and having Seacrest on stage pronto.
Now I assume that if Cowell and Jackson are still speaking to each other backstage, Cowell was specific in what show he was referring to. Meanwhile, both shows were live on the air when this happened last night, but when the clip gets out, things might get real chilly in that corner of TV City. -- TV or Not TV ....
