Barbara Budd co-hosted CBC Radio's trademark afternoon drive interview show for 17 years (American Public Media syndicates it to U.S. pubstations)--the CBC says that it is trying to weed out the last staff announcer types from their news and pubaffairs shows and replace them with experienced journalists (Budd was a Stratford Festival actress before she got the CBC staff announcer gig that brought her to "Happens"), but the Globe and Mail commenters who are typically-aging CBC listeners (just like NPR here) are suspecting Bob Edwards Syndrome (or, "get rid of the old people"):
