I've been doing 3D for about 2 years now. Both video and static images. It takes two video cameras and some software to make 3D video. That's why you don't see much of it on the web.
Static pictures, however, you can take with one camera. You just take a picture, take a step sideways, then take another picture. That's why you can see so many static 3D pictures online. They are easy to do. If you do a search for "3D anaglyph" on Flicr, you will get thousands of pictures. 3D video is much more difficult. You need two cameras. You need to sync the video and the sound in the software. You have to keep the focal distance the same as you move the camera so the viewer doesn't go cross eyed. It's much more challenging. But I think it's more fun. All the videos I've published on Viddler the past couple of years have been 3D. Plain video just isn't enough for me any more. So, to answer your question: The small number of 3D videos on YouTube aren't because they are annoying, or people don't enjoy them. It's because they are so difficult to produce. -- TV or Not TV ....
