Well, they are wrapping a couple of their original shows, so keeping this
around isn't exactly crazy.

I am pleased, and surprised, by this announcement (the punctuation in the
subject header may exaggerate my pleasure just a bit, but I thought it was
aesthetically called for).
I was luke-warm on the show in its first mini-season with NBC, but it was
already getting better, and it continued to improve with its new episodes on
TNT. It is still not quite as good as it seems to think it is, but still better
than a lot of TV dramas.

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) –
In a surprising move, TNT has renewed the former NBC cop drama "Southland" for
a third season.
The network has ordered 10 episodes of the critically acclaimed show,
which will air starting next January. "Southland" has been a modest
performer for the cable
network, which picked up the series after NBC canceled the series right before
the start of its second season.
TNT said "Southland" gains about 50 percent more viewers via DVR
time-shifting, which is above average. In live-plus-same-day ratings,
the final episodes of the show averaged about 2.2 million viewers. The
show averaged 2.7 million viewers for the season once seven-day DVR
gains were added.
