I dare say my opinion may have hit on a sore spot with Mr. Knab... The thing is, there's no other metric by which Wayne Brady's performance can be judged; yes, technically I could compare him to Bob Hilton or Billy Bush (since both have hosted the show), but that would be tremendously pointless. I can't compare Brady to Wink Martindale or Alex Trebek, since neither have hosted this show. The only comparison one can legitimately make as to Wayne's hosting style is to Monty. And, my opinion stands; I think Wayne Brady is a poor host of this show. I think Monty Hall was a great host of this show (and I think that, were he not 89 years old and retired, would have been a much better choice). Yes, Brady has gotten better. But better does not always equal good. And even if you remove Monty's name from the comparison, Wayne's still a poor host. I'm not suggesting the problem lies entirely at Brady's feet; I think the show relies too heavily on announcer Jonathan Mangum, and stretching the show out to an hour (rather than the half-hour originals) really hurts a lot. But the show is, plain and simple, plain and dull. I'll say this again: I'm a fan of game shows and I've always enjoyed "LMaD". I start my shift at work (at a CBS affiliate) at about 3:00 every day, so I have a very direct and easy method of watching this show. Rarely do I. I think that speaks volumes. (And, since you brought it up, I happen to like Drew Carey on "Price"; I think he's brought an enthusiasm and energy to the show that the aging Barker may once have had, but lost in his later years. Brady doesn't do for "LMaD" what Carey does for "Price".) -- -- Ben Scripps [email protected] -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
